Reducing early life disadvantages can have an impact on the decreasing stress and improving birth outcomes.  Life, in general, can be stressful and everyone works hard to take care of their family.  However, when you are living at or below the poverty line and/or inadequate education, it can add another layer of stress. Even if you are not experiencing financial hardships and/or received excellent education, there is still a need for reduction in the cultural barriers which lead to an increase in stress.

To gain a deeper understanding of these inequities, the collaborative viewed Unnatural Causes, a 4 hour documentary detailing health disparities in America.  In addition to the synopses of the episodes, there are several resources on the subject available.
